Culture Shock

The lecture talk about the culture shock, which show me that people move to different country always get culture shock, because of the different language, environment, food and people. Norms and values are the parts of culture, the correlation between them is that values are socially ideas about what is good, desirable, or important. These shared ideas are usually the basis of a society’s norms, rules that specify how people should behave. Furthermore, the defences are divided into 4 parts reparation, regression, isolation and rejection, and there are six symptoms of culture shock. First, talk a lot in their own language, second, look very blank, third, afraid they will be hurted, fourth, angry, fifth, physically get sick, sixth, everything is marvelous. Fortunately, there are many ways to overcome this situation. For instance, keep busy, hard work and learn the language. Anyway, there are many example, fact and evidence to explain what is culture shock, what cause the culture shock and how to solve serious of these problems. However, I am confused in the part of the four stage of culture shock, which is honeymoon strategy, nature shock, adjustment, and recovery. May be is mine mistake that I did not understand in this part. all in all, after watching this lecture, I know more knowledge about culture, and something come my mind deeply, as instructor said all culture are good, and people can not say which one is bad. Importantly, people learn more culture only can bring more benefits for them.

The assignments I am interested in are the idioms presentation and vocabulary list. First, idioms presentation is very attractive and useful, especially we do that on the morning, which means it as a fun to practice English that lead me have a good feeling at the beginning of the class until the class over. Secondly, vocabulary list which we do it every week and have a special test, really make me to remember it and use it in writing and speaking. Anyway, I really enjoy the time we study together and fell interesting and comfortable in learning in this class.

WAL★MART

The TV show is a bout the company Wal-Mart, which is one the biggest Mart in the North American. In this show, the issue is that there are several problems between employees and employers. Such as health care, children care and vocation. The evidence of the problem is reasonable and practical, for it research by the interview of the Wal-Mart workers. There are a lot of worker’s opinions, but there are many laces of manager’s responses, which make me confused. Furthermore, one thing come my mind deeply, that is the managers find that the problem they had until conquer that. For example, there are health care program and children care program after the suggestion and argument from the workers. However, the workers said that it is too expensive and unsuitable for them. In this situation, it seems that the workers depend on the company deeply, so I think that people work for a company is their own choice and responsibility, now that people already made a decision for their choice, then they should not complain the problem too much, which is belong to themselves or the government. After watching this show, I realize that even though a big company was so successful, it still has many problems.

YUELI

I have been YUELI for five months, and i will attend into the YORK University. The major reason why I come here is that YORK is one of my favorite university, and also i make many new friends, some of whom I know before, are my good friend, such as robet, ervin and kai. Now I take level five A course which is very interesting and attractive because my classmate and teacher are pretty good. My grammar is bad, and I think the best way to improve grammar is do more exercise. Anyway, i hope that everyone will improve clearly and quickly.
